Nipissing University Micro-credentials

Provided through Nipissing University, the Outward Bound Canada Training Academy for Outdoor Professionals will be offering a series of micro-credentials to help jumpstart your outdoor career!

Micro-credential Offerings

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Outdoor Professional: This course will explore the history of under-representation in the outdoor industry and how the changing demographics across the country are forcing the industry to shift and reflect. Gain insights and knowledge of key diversity concepts and build competency on dimensions of difference through the exploration of language and terminology to develop empathy, understanding, and the skills to create and maintain inclusive and accessible outdoor spaces.

Risk Management, Judgement and Decision-Making: This course is specifically crafted with the outdoor leader in mind, focusing on the principles and practices necessary to effectively manage risk, make informed decisions, and apply sound judgment in the field. These principles and practices can be integrated into all aspects of outdoor program design, planning, and execution, as well as personal outdoor pursuits.

Environmental Leadership: This course explores what it means to be an Environmental Leader, how to apply Environmental Leadership skills to transform your work, inspiring climate change and action, and integrating connection to the natural world in all aspects of your program.

Eligibility Requirements

Micro-credentials will be offered to all Training Academy alumni who have participated in at least one of our Outdoor Journeys or Centre-based programs.
